1. How did the Reed + Rader juggernaut come to be in existence?

We met while attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where we became best friends. Eventually we moved to New York to further our studies at the School of Visual Arts and that is where we officially began working together as "Reed + Rader".

2. Was your pairing that of two kindred spirits, seeing that is was pretty phenomenal you both went to the same Art Institute in Pittsburg and were also living in the same building?

We found out living in Pittsburgh that we also lived in the same building. When we moved to New York we were already together. Creatively we flow and connect almost as if we're 1 person.

3. Do you think New York played a big part in your creative union?

New York has played a role in inspiration and provided access to outlets that you wouldn't have anywhere else in the United States.

Brooklyn specifically has our heart.

4. How did the incredibly original idea come to light that you could use your photography and graphic design prowess to specialise in creating 'augmented reality' via visual shoots that include motion and
animation?

To us it makes sense in a multi tasking world to mix different mediums together. When we work on a project we like to take many different elements and merge them together. We often mix animation with collage and graphic design to create moving images.

5. Are you still both fans of paper, or is it well and truly a dead tradition in your eyes?

It's dead.

6. What has been your most rewarding project to date?

Interactive is a key to our future and is something that we're currently exploring more. We have a new project called "Naptime" (http://reedandrader.com/naptime.html) that lets the viewer control the scene by their mouse and keyboard. We are trying to incorporate inactivity in our work so the viewer is no longer passive but instead is participatory.

7. Is it a blessing or a hindrance to work, play and live together?

It's a constant flow of ideas, laughs and crazy cats running around. We wouldn't ask for anything differently.

8. Where can we view majority of your work?

Best thing about Fashion Week in New York?

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

What saying do you live by?

Learning to ride a bicycle for the first time in my life in New York has been quite a experience.

Which celebrity (living or dead) would you have wear your creations?

John's Diner, Brooklyn NY.
